Catherine McKenna\, PC\, LLB’99\, will present the Patricia Allen Memorial Lecture\, as part of the Annie MacDonald Langstaff Workshop Series. In a Q&A-style interview with Professor Jennifer Raso\, she will share insights from her inspiring career and her newly published memoir\, Run Like a Girl.  \n\n\n\n Followi ng their conversation\, audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions during an open Q&A session. The event will be preceded by a smal l reception in the Caren & Jordan H. Waxman Common Room. \n\n\n\n The event is co-sponsored by the ÿÈÕ̽»¨ Research Group on Health and Law.  \n\n Biog raphy\n\n\n\n Catherine McKenna (LLB’99) is Canada’s former Minister of Env ironment and Climate Change and Minister of Infrastructure. As a key archi tect of Canada’s first comprehensive climate plan and a lead negotiator of the Paris Agreement\, McKenna has played a pivotal role in shaping global climate policy. She currently chairs the UN Secretary General’s High-Leve l Expert Group on Net-Zero Commitments and advises several international c limate and policy initiatives. A lawyer and former UN negotiator\, she is also the founder of Women Leading on Climate and holds academic appointmen ts at the London School of Economics\, UCLA Law\, and Columbia University. Her leadership has earned her global recognition\, including the Légion d ’Honneur and an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Canadian Geographic Soc iety. \n\n\n\n McKenna’s new book\, Run Like A Girl\, offers a candid refle ction on her time in politics and her journey as a leader and climate advo cate. With honesty and energy\, she explores what it means to lead with co urage\, to balance ambition with purpose\, and to empower the next generat ion of women to shape a fairer\, more sustainable world. \n\n\n\n This even t is free and open to the public\, but registration is required. \n\n\n\n A bout the Annie MacDonald Langstaff Workshops \n\n\n\n Inaugurated in 1988 i n honour of Annie MacDonald Langstaff\, BCL'14\, the first woman to earn a law degree in Quebec\, the Annie MacDonald Langstaff Workshops provide a forum for academics\, judges\, lawyers\, and community activists to presen t scholarly research and practical insights on issues relating to women an d the law. Two named lectures\, the Margot E. Halpenny Memorial Lecture an d the Patricia Allen Memorial Lecture are given each year as part of the s eries\, in addition to three or four additional presentations. \n\n\n\n Abo ut the Patricia Allen Memorial Lecture \n\n\n\n Created in 1992 by the Clas s of 1988 in memory of classmate Patricia Allen\, a graduate of the Facult y who was senselessly murdered by her former partner\, this annual lecture ship is devoted to sensitizing and educating the legal community and other s about pressing social and legal issues\, particularly that of violence a gainst women.  \n\n\n\n About the ÿÈÕ̽»¨ Research Group on Health and Law\n \n\n\n The ÿÈÕ̽»¨ Research Group on Health and Law is a research network th at seeks to foster the sharing of scholarship and ideas among professors a nd students\, and encourages collaborative work on health-related issues.
